Directions: Just off the A90 Dundee bypass. Turn right towards the city onto Myrekirk Road. Circle is on the right in the football field. A fence has recently been erected around the circle. Safe parking, free entry.

Site Notes: You always feel sorry for a circle that has had a city grow up around it, and Balgarthno has certainly suffered that fate. Often overgrown and covered in broken bottles, it is worth remembering that some circles have suffered worse: concreted in or knocked down, and indeed Balgarthno has only recently escaped that fate. Asda, a large British supermarket wanted to build a a shop here with the circle as a feature in the car park. Honestly. A 'civilisation' that treats its past with such disdain hasn't long left in my opinion.

Visit this site, and appreciate it while you can. The stones are black, which is unusual, and you can only imagine the site 6000 years ago, before all of this modern rubbish was lapping at its heels.
